(BALDWIN COUNTY, Ala.) - A benefit is being put together for a Summerdale Police Officer who was injured in a car accident. Police say Officer Terry Fent swerved to miss an animal and crashed his car.

He was off duty when the accident happened.

Officer Fent had just started on the force and was not eligible for health insurance. 

A benefit is planned for next Saturday, March 3  from 10 a.m to 4 p.m. at Garrett Park in Robertsdale.

Fent is in stable condition at USA Medical Center.
